Lumio
Résidence Santa Maria à l'Île-Rousse
Studio Standard
Between the sea and the mountains, the Balagne region is one of Corsica's most popular destinations for families.

You can enjoy numerous easy hikes there as a family.

L'Île-Rousse and Calvi, in particular, are the starting points for many trails.

Here is a selection of walks suitable for young hikers, perfect for a successful nature getaway.

L'Île-Rousse and the Pietra Lighthouse: an iconic walk

Starting from the center of L'Île-Rousse, the climb to the Pietra Lighthouse is an easy walk that is very popular with families.

Park in the beach parking lot and then follow the Marinella road to the Genoese Tower.

Allow about 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete this circuit, which offers spectacular views of the sea and the red porphyry islets.

The well-marked path allows children to walk safely and enjoy the exceptional scenery.

Hiking through forests and rivers in the heart of nature

The Genoese bridge of Tartagine

Nestled in the hinterland of Haute-Balagne, the Tartagine forest shelters an authentic Genoese bridge accessible via an easy, shaded path.

This family-friendly walk in the shade of the pine trees begins near the village of Pioggiola at the Tartagine Forest House.

Located in the heart of the Corsican Regional Natural Park, you can take breaks by the water and even go for a swim in the summer.

The Ficaghjola loop

The Ficaghjola loop is a short and pleasant hike in the heart of the Bonifatu massif. It allows you to discover typical Balagne landscapes without any major technical difficulties.

It is an excellent introduction to hiking in nature.

Walks between heritage and panoramic views

Notre-Dame de la Serra from the Calvi Citadel

From the Calvi Citadel, take the path that leads to Notre-Dame de la Serra.

The loop promises breathtaking views of the Bay of Calvi.

The Croix de Lumio

If you're looking for a short walk, the Croix de Lumio is the perfect spot. The path from the charming village of Lumio takes you to the abandoned village of Oci, nestled at an altitude of 337 meters.

From there, you can admire the view of the coastline.

The Lama Heritage Trail

Starting from the church square in Lama, this marked 2-hour trail is an immersion into the history and architecture of the village.

The path climbs in switchbacks through the narrow streets of the medieval village to a small plateau covered with juniper trees where you can admire the panoramic view.

Along the way, you can refresh yourself around the Fontana Bona and walk through ancient agricultural terraces.

The Route of Authentic Senses: A Gourmet Discovery

Beyond the hiking trails, the Balagne region can also be discovered through its producers.

The Route of Authentic Senses takes you to meet local farmers, beekeepers, cheesemakers, and artisans.

This is a great opportunity to introduce your children to these trades and to taste some local Corsican specialties such as honey and farm cheese.
